Have you ever been to the mountains of the Saxon Switzerland?
Next Sunday, the 18.07.2010 , we want to invite you for a hiking tour through this magic world of mystic sandstone formations, deep valleys and magnificent look-outs.


We´re gonna meet at the Dresden Main Station (Hauptbahnhof) at the eastern end of platform 18 (Gleis 18) at 9.15am. As usual you´ll recognize us from our grassgreen shirts. We´ll take the train to the village of Rathen. From there you´ll already see the impressive sandstone rocks waiting for us on the other side of the Elbe river. After the ferry across the Elbe we start the hiking tour to the “Bastei”, one of Europes finest outlooks (photo, source: Andreas Steinhoff). So don´t forget to bring your camera. After the Bastei we get back down to Rathen and cross the Elbe once more to climb the Rauensteinmountains on the other side. From there we will have some other great views and you can get some food and icecream or drinks from the tavern on the top. Finally we take the way to Wehlen, where we get on the train back to Dresden. We will be back at the Main Station at 6pm

Please bring 1,30€ for the ferry in Rathen and your Semesterticket for the train. The hikingtrack is doable for everybody, is 10km long, and involves some rocky and uneven parts. It is important to wear stable shoes and to have adequate clothing (e.g. rain protection in the case of rain, but I guess the weather will be great :). Also don´t forget some refreshments and food if you do not plan to buy things at the Rauenstein tavern.

So take the chance to discover this nice landscape with us, you don´t need to register for the hiking trip. Bring along some friends and sunny weather.
